 ◆HISTORY OF THE CYCLE CARNIVAL
This is a cycling event that represents the region and has been held continuously since 1992.
It was created by the members of the Youth Division from the former Yodoe Town Chamber of Commerce.
The intention of this event was to introduce the characteristics of the area through cycling,
which had just become popular at that time.
A few examples of the charms in the area are beautiful springs that are certified by the Ministry of Environment,
one of Japan’s oldest murals, and the largest ruins from the Yayoi period. Through this “hand-made” regional
revitalization project, the founding members also wanted to provide visitors with great food and fun things to do.
Other objectives for this project were that all Youth Division members shared a common goal and wanted to pass on
this feeling of satisfaction to do things together to the next generation, so they have also asked the entire area
(including residents and government) for cooperation.
The CYCLE CARNIVAL has continued even after the merger of the Chamber of Commerce of Yodoe, Hakusen,
and Hiezu areas in 2007. We will keep delivering the charms of the area with the objective of becoming the
 “Cyclist Sanctuary” in San’in Area.
